Alicante, the capital of the province of Alicante, is located at the heart of Costa Blanca, on a conditional border between North and South shores (Costa del Norte and Costa del Sur). Alicante - is a famous tourist centre of the coast of Costa Blanca, the city, which architecture originally combines elements of Greek, Romanesque, Moorish, Gothic styles, Baroque and Art Nouveau. Near the city, on the rock Benacantil, which is 166m high, towers the Castillo de Santa Barbara castle. The castle can be reached by using the lifts, located at the end of the street Calle Juan Bautista Lafora.

The strategic position of the rocks used Carthaginian generals in their time - in the 3rd century BC on this place was built a formidable fortress that nobody dared to attack during two thousand years. The fortress was rebuilt and strengthened by the Romans, Moors and then, later, Christians (16th century), who gave it a modern name. Alicante is known for its miles of sandy beaches and is a starting point for lots of tourists every year.

The weather in Alicante is excellent and the city invites to take a trip along its coast or to the wonderful island of Tabarca. Along the Alicante harbor there are beautiful long alleys for nice walks and enjoying the mild climate and palm trees. During summer Alicante with its Airport is a starting point for many Costa Blanca tourists.
